Bean-to-Bar Chocolate Tour
Transform our farm’s high-quality organic cacao into your own handcrafted chocolate bar. Begin at the cacao nursery, home to grafted cacao, coffee, vanilla, and spices. Watch as your guide demonstrates grafting Criollo cacao onto Trinitario rootstock and taste the tangy, sweet pulp from a freshly cracked cacao pod.
Learn about fermenting and drying, then explore our garden of exotic flavors. The journey concludes at the Agritourism Center, where we will guide you through the entire process of crafting a chocolate bar from scratch, including roasting, winnowing, conching, and tempering. Roll up your sleeves and join in tempering and molding your own chocolate bar to take home.

“Making chocolate was fun & educational, I was so excited to take the chocolate I made home! The coffee tour had the best coffee I've ever tasted!”
Elorine G.
“The excursions both on & off the property are breathtaking. Copal Tree Lodge is an eco-lodge and 70% self-sufficient. The rum, coffee, chocolate, most of the vegetables/fruits, meats, & herbs are all produced on the property. The other 30% is sourced locally, which is pretty cool how invested they are in their local community.”
Tim S.
“Whether you are there to relax or fill your day with activities, you will not be disappointed. We enjoyed everything we did, from fishing & snorkeling, to chocolate making & farm tours. Currently sitting back home in the snow, I am fondly thinking of expansive jungle views while enjoying Copalli rum cocktails with Howler Monkeys calling out in the distance.”
