Cultivating Sustainability & History
Our Sustainable Efforts to Preserve Belize
Nestled within 16,000 acres of Belize rainforest, with 12,000 acres protected from deforestation, Copal Tree Lodge is dedicated to conservation, sustainable practices, and fostering local economic development.
At Copal Tree, nature is not just a backdrop; it’s at the heart of everything we do. Every choice begins with a deep reverence for the land, its wildlife, and the people who call this region home as part of our commitment to developing an ecosystem that elevates local Southern Belize communities.

Conserving Together
Guests can join us in conserving water by reusing their linens and towels during their stay. This practice not only reduces water and energy consumption but also minimizes detergent wastewater that needs recycling within our community.
In our commitment to conservation, we have implemented a state-of-the-art, gravity-fed rainwater collection and filtration system. We appreciate guests’ efforts to conserve rainwater by reusing towels and using water wisely.
For drinking water, we ask guests to refill their complimentary water bottles with filtered water from their rooms or designated stations throughout the lodge.
Social Responsibility
At Copal Tree, we prioritize fair trade and local empowerment, supporting farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs to help strengthen the regional economy and uplift quality of life. We partner with over 40 local providers, and 99% of our team members come from Southern Belize. Together, our efforts have positively impacted the lives of hundreds throughout the region.
Today, the three ventures of Copal Tree make up the largest non-government employer in Southern Belize, offering wages that are above the national average.
In addition, we support socially responsible programs focused on education, healthcare, cultural preservation, and environmental protection. All of our actions contribute to our commitment to developing an ecosystem that elevates local communities.
